Sexercise To Exercise
Why spending time between the sheets might or might not be the cardio you just needed.
Exercise 01st Aug, 2020
It would be fair to say that sex is fun for the majority, however depending on how robust the sex is, it may feel like a good workout. Just how effective is it though at burning calories and giving you a good cardio workout?
Given that an accelerated heartbeat and breathing will result in burning more calories, it should be no surprise that although “a kiss on the hand may be quite continental”, a passionate kiss will burn 230 calories per half hour compared the 213 with a light run – and kissing is infinitely more fun.
When it comes to sex as a workout it is usally going to be mainly a cardio workout and depends on how long you are at it for and how intense. The key to maximising sex as a workout is to change positions frequently but also to lift your partner up as much as possible so that you are also engaging your muscles. Additionally moaning and sighing also increases the amount of calories burnt as it puts more of a burden on your lungs.
As promising as these factors may be, sex will never be as effective as a workout. Being the dominant partner is better in this regard, but sex does not last forever and if the intensity is too high, the fun aspect is serously diminshed. There is certainly a path to make sex as good as a workout, but the discipline and process would be counter-productive. We recommend to keep having sex for fun, and buy a gym membership for the workout.
This is not to say that there are many other health benefits to sex beyond it’s ability to be a workout. Sex releases feel good hormones, can relieve stress and can bring two or more people closer together. So no matter what your incentive is realise that yes, sex can be an ok cardio workout depending on how you go about it, but it is always going to be the most pleasurable workout regardless.
It would be fair to say that sex is fun for the majority, however depending on how robust the sex is, it may feel like a good workout.
Why does exercise come with such a high recommendation?
Are the desired results proving elusive even though, month on end, you’re putting in the hard yards?
So it’s time for the next workout. But what’s that feeling welling up inside, is it excitement?
Ever wondered why you hear shouting in the gym? Why is the person doing a ridiculous squat shouting at the top of their lungs?
